Personal Poetry Booklets

[Steps]
  • In your Poetry folder (in Google Docs), create a document titled "personal poetry booklet"
  • Using one of the following websites, locate five poems by different authors that appeal to you in some way (meaning, sound, etc)
  • Copy the text of your poems to your "Personal Poetry Booklet" AND create a WORKS CITED entry for each of your poems.
  • Rank each poem 1-5 in order of your favorite to least favorite (1 being favorite, 5 being least favorite of the five)
  • Make sure that each poem has it's own page in your document- do not double up pages and poems
  • Make sure to include the following information for each of the five poems you selected:
    • Title of poem
    • Author of poem
    • text of poem
    • works cited entry
    • paragraph justification for why you chose each poem
    • rank of each poem
  • Print your document out. (with all of this information)
  • Do a complete analysis of your poem in which you mark it up using the tips from "How to Mark your Text" AND identifying any literary terms from set 1
  • FOR YOUR FAVORITE POEM ONLY
    • Write and type a 2 paragraph summary of your poem. Discuss the meaning of your poem and theme
    • Change the font of your poem to fit the mood of the poem (color and type) and reprint
    • Create a collage of images (can be found online) that "go" with your poem- mood/theme/content/etc
